PINK ASPARAGUS – & MUSIC
Has anyone seen Pink Asparagus? I thought they were so beautiful I’d be happy to be ‘bunched’ with them!
I spotted them yesterday in the new ‘Eat Italy’ in Milano. Farinetti has done a wonderful conversion of the historic Teatro Smeraldo replacing music once played by greats such as Josephine Baker, Ray Charles, Bob Dylan, David Byrne, Van Morrison and Ute Lemper with that of hissing coffee machines, sizzling gamberetti, clinking glasses and a general happy buzz of people eating and shopping.
Naturally we had to actually sample the food, so balancing on our bar stools we shared a juicy pear, walnut & parmesan salad and some freshly-fried shrimp & calamari ‘cicchetti’ – sipping an ‘ombra’ (a glass of wine in Venetian culinary talk…’ombra’ being ‘shadow’). We’ll be back!
By the way – all up & coming musicians/performers check out the website: www.eatitaly.it they’re offering a free stage (as shown) to showcase your talents….
